These Terms of Service govern your use of Clean Captions ("the Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The service

Clean Captions is a web-based subtitle generation tool that transcribes video and audio files and produces animated caption overlays. The Service is provided on a subscription basis.

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. We use email-based magic links for authentication — keep your email account secure. You may not share your account with others or use the Service for purposes other than those described here.

Subscription and billing

• New accounts receive a 48-hour free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period.
• After the trial, the Service costs $10 per month, billed automatically.
• You may cancel at any time via the customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, but we will consider requests on a case-by-case basis.
• All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment details.

Your content

You retain full ownership of all videos, audio files, and content you upload to the Service. We do not claim any rights to your content. Uploaded files are processed and deleted from our servers — we do not store your videos.

By uploading content, you confirm that you have the right to do so and that your content does not violate any laws or third-party rights.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Upload content that infringes on copyright or other intellectual property rights
• Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or disrupt the Service
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service
• Use the Service to process content that is illegal, harmful, or offensive

Service availability

We aim to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience downtime beyond our control. We are not liable for any losses resulting from Service unavailability.

Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clean Captions is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 30 days preceding the claim.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and emailing us to request deletion of your data.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and applicable member state law. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of EU courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the "last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
