Who we are
Clean Captions is a web-based subtitle generation service. For any privacy-related questions, contact us by email.
What data we collect
- Email address — collected when you sign up or log in. Used to send you magic login links and billing-related emails.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
- Video and audio files — uploaded by you for transcription. These are processed and then deleted from our servers. We do not store your videos.
- Usage data — basic server logs (IP address, timestamps) for security and debugging purposes.
How we use your data
- To provide and operate the Clean Captions service
- To send login links to your email address
- To manage your subscription via Stripe
- To respond to support requests
Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
We process your personal data on the basis of contract performance — your data is necessary to provide the service you've signed up for. We do not process your data for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
Data retention
We retain your email address and subscription status for as long as your account is active. If you cancel and request deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days. Video and audio files are deleted immediately after processing.

Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This is strictly necessary for the service to function and does not require consent under GDPR. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
